In short: Scale → 4.0+ = Positive, 3.0–3.9 = Neutral (on Amazon: Mixed), <3.0 = Negative.
For Google places
- Global signal: The public Google star rating (long-term crowd opinion).
- Sample signal: The tone of the specific reviews fetched for this page.
- We combine both. If they disagree, you’ll usually see a normal label plus a small trend badge (e.g., “Recent feedback skews negative”).
- Caution appears only when the disagreement is strong and the recent sample is very small; otherwise we keep the combined label.
- The original Global rating is shown under the title.
For Amazon products
- From the product title/category, we infer what buyers typically praise or criticize and provide a brief summary, likely strengths, and likely weaknesses.
- From these signals we predict a sentiment score (1–5). If pros and cons are balanced, the label may be Mixed.
- We do not quote individual reviews; we summarize patterns.
